Hudson Lossing- Newborn Session

What a fun day this was! I (Jessica) headed to The Lossing’s home to capture their newest addition, sweet little Hudson Lossing. You might remember The Lossing’s from their Maternity Session back in April and their Delivery Session just a few short weeks ago. I had the privilege of photographing Hudson’s entrance into this world, and it was my first c-section to photograph too. What an emotional, amazing and incredible experience! And I know first hand that recovering from a c-section is hard, painful and long. But Jen looked awesome when I showed up for their Newborn Session. Rick and Jen both are settling into parenthood wonderfully and are doing awesome. Hudson is SUCH a cute little man! We had fun with the outfits Jen picked out and he was such a good baby the entire time. Only did he start to get fussy as we were finishing up the session!

It’s been such an enormous pleasure to meet and get to know this family. Watching them transition and getting to know them from the times we’ve spent together has just been an honor. Meeting little Hudson and watching them go from a family of two to three has just been incredible. Jen & Rick, Jason and I wish you all the best with your newest little family member! You two have been such a joy to get to know and we are so excited for this journey you are now on! Congrats again!

The Lossing’s- Delivery Session

This was one very special Delivery Session. Who am I kidding? They are ALL special and unique in their own ways! But this one is one that I’ll remember for the whole rest of my life! You might remember Jen and Rick from their maternity session that Jason and I did back in April. These two were so excited and anxiously awaiting the birth of their first son, who was due to arrive June 22nd. Well, in the wee early morning hours of June 15th, I received a phone call from Jen that her water broke!! Rick did an awesome job of keeping me updated all day long and at about 5:30 pm it was finally time for me to head down to the hospital.

When I got there both Jen and Rick were in great spirits. Jen had labored long and hard, but she was doing great! I spent some time there with them in their delivery room hanging out and waiting for this little guy to make his debut. Then, after a couple more hours of waiting the nurses and doctor decided that it would be in the best interest of mamma and baby to go ahead and perform a c-section.

Having had a c-section myself, I know all too well the process, emotions, and fears with going through this procedure. I knew it was so important to Jen and Rick to have pictures of their little guy making his grand entrance, but since they usually only let one person into the OR with the mamma, I thought I would have to sit this one out until they were in recovery.

I was wrong!!

I asked a couple of nurses and did what I could to see if there was ANY way I could slip into the OR to photograph the event for Jen and Rick. I, of course, was ready to go along with whatever the doctor said because the most important thing is keeping baby and mom safe. But since it never hurts to ask, I did what I could to see if I could photograph the c-section.

And they said YES!

To my complete shock and honor, I was allowed to scrub up and head into the OR to be apart of this precious baby’s birth via c-section! It was the first c-section I’ve ever photographed and it was the most incredible thing I’ve ever done! Hudson Lucius Lossing was born on June 15th, 2010 at 7:48 pm weighing 9.0 lbs 21 & 1/4 inches. He was such a healthy and happy little guy! Jen did fantastic and Rick was just beaming. It was such an honor to be allowed back to be apart of this miraculous day for them! It never fails to amaze me that couples ask me, allow me, and trust me enough to be involved in something so huge and personal for them.

I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of this incredible story. It was such a fabulous night! There’s nothing better than watching an amazing couple become an amazing family. This is the stuff that life’s all about!

Congrats Jen and Rick on your beautiful new son! I am forever grateful and blessed that you have asked me to be apart of such an important day in your lives. I will never forget this experience and I thank you for your trust in me to capture it. I wish you both the best and can’t wait to come do your Newborn Session!

Jackson Ronning- Newborn Session

Look at this cute little face! Photographing this new little bundle of joy was so amazing! Jackson David Ronning belongs to Rachel and Rob Ronning and his big sister Isabella. He was born at 3:08 pm on May 12th and I had the greatest pleasure of photographing his delivery for this sweet little family. About a week later, I went to The Ronning’s home to spend some time with and to photograph their Newborn Session with little Jackson. He is such a great baby! Very easy going, sleepy, cuddly, and as adorable as they come! What an incredible time for them. I have been tremendously blessed to be apart of it. It’s been so amazing to watch Rachel and Rob grow their precious family and I can’t wait to watch their little ones grow up!

The Victors- Delivery Session

These two have waited for a long time for this. And their amazing bundle of joy, Annabelle Grace Victor is here! And she is amazing, that is for sure. She’s a tiny little thing, who was immediately embraced by these two adoring parents who couldn’t wait for her to be here. I’ve never been witness to such an incredible moment- seeing one of your greatest friends meet the baby that she so patiently waited for and so deeply wanted was a moment that I will not ever forget. And one that I am humbled to have been a part of.

Suzanne and Eric couldn’t stop staring at her, telling her how much they love her, and how they are going to take the best possible care of her that they can. And they mean it too. It was a room full of pure love, one where nothing was taken forgranted. Moments thought about for a long time. And they were very much in the moment. It was amazing and beautiful and riveting.

Suzanne and Eric, Annabelle is perfect. She is such a beauty and I can’t imagine two people better suited for that little girl. I can’t wait to watch your family grow and see who Annabelle becomes. I can’t wait until she can play with Cruz. Thank you for allowing me in to such a huge and special event for you guys. I hope you cherish these pictures for the rest of your lives, allowing them to tell a story that may have been a blur to you at the time. I love you guys, and little sweet Annabelle.

Jackson Johnson- Newborn Session

What a perfect Valentine’s Day post! What’s not to love about this sweet little man? I can’t think of a single thing! New parents Christy and Ryan Johnson welcomed sweet Jackson into the world on January 13, 2010 at 6:43 am, and I was fortunate enough to be there to capture the entire thing. Christy did amazing during her labor process and was really a trooper through the entire thing. I was so thrilled when they asked me to shoot their newborn pictures as well- I absolutely love checking up on the families after I shoot their births. It’s always interesting to chat about the details that happened through the birth and get the mom’s perspective of the whole day. And it’s always fun for me to fill them in on details that happened that they may have missed! And that’s exactly what me and Christy did! We chatted through the whole shoot about her experience, what she was thinking and feeling and about all the details that may have been a blur to her.

And I got to photograph Jackson, who is just as sweet as they come! His nursery is the perfectly balanced between being for a baby and a grown up- meaning, it’s very sleek with clean lines and simple patterns. It’s very welcoming for a little baby but you will not find one farm animal there at all! Jackson is happy, healthy and beautiful. Jackson’s big brother Landen was there too. You should have seen how excited he was to hold him! He’s going to be such a great big brother to Jackson.

Congratulations Christy, Ryan and Landen! You guys are doing amazing and Jackson is just beautiful!

Linnea Joelle Alley- Newborn Session

Beautiful elegance. Sweet, tender moments. These new parents are reveling in parenthood and all it’s glories- good, bad, hard and easy! Life is in full swing with little Linnea Joelle Alley and Andrea and Cody are adjusting beautifully. Becoming a new parent is difficult in so many aspects and it’s been so amazing to watch these fun friends slip right into the swing of things, just like they’ve been doing it for years! You may remember The Alleys- we photographed their maternity pictures back in November and I (Jessica) had the biggest honor of photographing Linnea’s birth on December 23rd, 2009.

And what a gorgeous girl! I can’t say it enough! From the moment she was born, I was struck by how beautiful she is. She’s the sweetest, tiniest little thing that you just want to cuddle and kiss all day long! And I’m sure that’s all Andrea and Cody do! The day of their newborn shoot, Jason went and did the shoot by himself. I had gotten sick a couple days prior and was still recovering. So I didn’t want to bring over any germs I might have still been carrying around. I was so bummed to miss it, but Linnea’s health was much more important. Jason did an amazing job! These pictures are gorgeous and truly capture a cherished elegance and love that this new little family is. When he got there, Linnea was a little bit fussy at the beginning. But then she started to calm down and once she did, her little eyes opened and allowed him to get some fantastic shots.

She is stunning. I think you’ll agree…..

The Lundbergs- Delivery Session

You might remember that I had mentioned that the morning of January 13th was a very crazy morning! I had received two phone calls very early in the morning that two separate couples that I was scheduled to photograph had both in fact, gone into labor! Hoping that I would of course make it to both, I headed to photograph The Johnson’s birth first- Christy’s labor had gone very quickly so I was hoping that I would be able to photograph her little baby boy’s birth and zip on over to the other hospital to make it in time to meet The Lundberg’s newest addition. And thankfully, I was right! The Johnson’s birth went very quickly and so I was able to take all of their pictures and made it in time to be with Alexis and Chris.

I walked into their delivery room with more than enough time to capture the birth of their second child. Alexis and Chris decided to wait to find out the sex of the baby until delivery day. It’s always an amazing moment in the delivery room when the sex of the new baby is announced, especially when the new parents don’t know what they are having! It was such a great moment when Chris exclaimed, “It’s a BOY!”. Little precious Malakai James Lundberg has arrived on January 13th, 2010 at 9:10 am weighing 8 lbs 13 oz and 21 in long!

Calling him Kai for short, this little man was just such a stud from the beginning. Both Alexis and Chris definitely agreed that Kai looked exactly like his now big brother, Jackson. What a cool day. Little Kai was born into a family who were so incredibly excited to meet him and to welcome him into their home. This small family of four is such a special, beautiful family and I am so excited for them.

Alexis and Chris, thank you so much for asking me to be a part of Kai’s birth day. I feel so blessed to have you guys as dear friends in my life and hope for many more photo shoots and fun hang out times. Congratulations on your little man- he’s such a doll!

The Johnsons- Delivery Session

This was one crazy morning! I had been waiting for most of the night to get a call from my friend Alexis Lundberg- I knew she had gone into labor and I was waiting for the ‘go ahead’ to head to the hospital to photograph her birth. I had fallen asleep and was woken up by a text message, which I was sure was Alexis or her husband Chris. It actually ended up being Ryan to let me know that Christy had gone into labor and that they were admitted to the hospital and that she was dilated to 8 centimeters!! I jumped out of bed at about 5:00 am and headed to the hospital, also hoping and praying that Alexis could hang on to have her little one so I could make it to both. (Stay tuned for The Lundbergs story and I will post pictures soon!)

Christy was such a champ in her delivery. Her labor went pretty quickly and once she had her epidural, she was all smiles and feeling much, much better. She was joking with all her nurses, her doctor, and her family as we all eagerly awaited the birth of their little man. And we didn’t have to wait too long either! Jackson Johnson was born on January 13th, 2010 at 6:43 am. He was such a handsome little stud too! There was a very special excitement in the air through the entire process and it was very special to see the amount of family that was there and the family that was waiting outside- everyone anticipating little Jackson!

I am so excited for Christy and Ryan and their newest addition to their little family. Their healthy baby boy has been welcomed into a great, amazing family who will cherish him for life. Stay tuned for their newborn pictures which will be coming soon!

Congratulations Christy and Ryan! Jackson is beautiful and so lucky to have you two as parents. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me in to be a part of such an amazing gift.

The Bartons- Newborn Session

We have had the greatest pleasure of getting to know The Bartons throughout these past few months, and what a pleasure it’s been! We met Liz and Josh when we did their maternity shoot a couple months back. They were anticipating the arrival of their little man, excited to meet him, nervous to become parents, anxious to know when he’d come. We had a lot of fun with them that day- talking about what Ethan could look like and reminiscing about our experience with my pregnancy with Cruz. Those two people are the salt of the earth. Truly, remarkable people.

They asked us to photograph their little man once he arrived, and we were of course stoked! I (Jessica) spent the afternoon with them a few days after Ethan was born and it was so amazing to meet him! He has the fullest head of dark hair I’ve ever seen and is perfect in every way. And while Ethan is keeping Liz and Josh on their toes at all times, especially with the whole sleeping through the night thing, they are adjusting to parenthood amazingly and love their little Ethan so very much. We love this family and we are so thrilled that we are becoming better friends with them.

And now, we’d like to introduce you to little (adorable) Ethan Barton. A well loved little guy with a fantastic new home…

Baby Alley’s Birth Day- Delivery Session

You may remember The Alley’s from this post, which actually wasn’t posted all that long ago. That’s because their little baby girl decided to grace us with her presence 3 weeks early! And not only that, but she was born on her new daddy’s birthday! Cody turned 30 years old on the same early morning that his precious baby girl arrived. What an amazing birthday gift!

Beautiful Linnea Joelle Alley was born on December 23, 2009 at 3:50 am weighing 6 pounds even and 19 inches long. And she is such a gorgeous girl! Andrea was such a trooper through her entire labor- Linnea had made up her mind about arriving early and she came very, very quickly. It made the labor process very intense and painful for Andrea, but she definitely did an amazing job through the entire process- even when no one would believe her that she was actually in fact, in labor! You can read Andrea’s entire labor story here, and let me tell you, it’s a great read! She’s hilarious and leaves no detail out!

Andrea and Cody have been dear friends of ours for a very long time now. We love them to no end and are so excited for this new journey ahead of them. A couple days after they returned home from the hospital, they invited us over so Jason and Cruz could meet the newest member of The Alley home, and both Andrea and Cody agree that Linnea had already changed their lives completely- in every single amazing way. It has been so inspiring to see the transformation in their lives, and we are truly blessed to have their family in our lives.

I think I will forever be in awe and wonder that these couples allow me to be apart of something that is so important, so personal, and so incredible in their lives. It’s something I cherish each and every time I am asked to photograph a delivery. Wow. Andrea and Cody were so gracious to allow me in and to take the first pictures ever taken of their little girl. Of her first breath, her first cry, her first moments. It moves me to tears each and every time and I feel so blessed to have been a part of this huge day for them. But mostly, I am so fortunate to have them as our dearest friends.
